So,you wanna tat eh ! Can't say I blame ya. These things are bloody addictive you know. You don't often see people with just one that are never gonna get another. Maybe it's the pain, maybe it's just being part of the whole tattoo culture, I guess for me it's a bit of both. I had my first one done whilst I was still at school in 1979. 16 years old I was. Me and a mate cycled up to the tattooist, Dino's in Hayes, in our school uniform, wipped off our ties and went in. "you 18 " he asked. "of course " was the reply. No problem , my first was done within about half an hour. Real piece of shit tat but I didn't care, I was the nuts, I had a tat. I was a double hard bastard. So, having started off at Terry Dino's place and had a few done in a short space of time, I worked my over to the other side of Hayes into Jack Zeek's place. A small flat over a shop. Now that was a cool place to hang. Dunno why, just seemed to be a step up the tattoo ladder. Had a few done including my membership tat for the West London Tattoo Club or WLTC with a dragon head. Membership qualification was 10 tats. Loads of us have that dragons head. It was cool to get. Went back there a few years later to catch up and he'd moved into the shop downstairs and his son Sean was on the ink. And pretty good too. Had a swift one done, as you do.
Anyway, after Jack Zeek, I was introduced to another local Hayes man, Derek Campbell. Ace artist. Had my first one by him when he was still in his grandads back garden in a brick built shed studio. Had lots done by him over the years , as have various family members as he is pretty much as good as it gets. He currently has a studio in West Drayton called Mantra.
There was a breif encounter with G.Bone in the west Ealing / Hanwell area to get my hands done but I have since had those lasered off. Nuff said on that one.
Having has a few years break from getting tattooed and concentrating on earning money, I figured I should get back into it all. What better way than having a crack at this fine art form myself. Now I'll be the first to admit that if you really want to be a tattoo artist then the apprentice route is the one to take, but being the age I am, it's too late for that. I'm not too bad at art, I don't mind the pain and I am pretty confident so I got myself a good set up from a supplier and have started to tattoo myself and other victims.
It's at this point I must mention that I have had some excellent advice and help from serious professionals who know what they are doing. I couldn't have got even this far without it.
So, without further ado, I'm going to put every tattoo I do on here for all to see. Please bear in mind that I have not been doing this very long and some of the tats in the pics might not be quite finished but generally you'll get the idea.

Meanwhile, check out the photos above. Click on either one for a bigger version. They are of the business card from Dino's tattoo shop from the day I got my very first tattoo in 1979. Not really sure how or why I've kept it this long but it's been with me a while and must be a collectors item now, even though it's not in perfect condition. Not sure where all the colour's gone from those early tattoos, I guess inks were different eh !!
I wish I'd kept the ones from Jack Zeek's place, never mind.
Latest tattoo on the left here.
Well done Phil for sitting still that long.
